I noticed a job posting I wanted to apply for on Craigslist. When I clicked on the link to apply for the job, an old version of Outlook Express 6 came up to manage the e-mail message. This program dates back to when I had Verizon for web access. I have Charter now.

How do I set my default for reply to my Gmail account? I have no idea how to do this. I am not very techy. My laptop is a Gateway. I use Windows XP with Mozilla Firefox for browser. I always use Google for e mail. I looked at default settings but have no idea how or where to click to set gmail as the default for sending.

Help.

The problem is you have the 'mailto' link set up to use Outlook Express as your mail client when you actually want to use your browser to access a web based email provider.

Try the following:
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options'
Select the 'Applications' panel
Search for the Content-type: 'mailto' and select it.
Click on the Actions column in the mailto row, to change the action.
If that doesn't work, you may need to change Windows XP's default settings. Try the following:

Click the Start button, then click on the Control Panel icon to open the Windows Control Panel.
Click the 'Add or Remove Programs' icon to open the Add or Remove Programs applet.
On the left side of the Window click the 'Set Program Access and Defaults' icon.
In the Access and Defaults window, click on the 'Custom' radio button to expand the Custom category.
Underneath 'Choose a default e-mail program', click the radio button next to the program you want to use.
Click OK at the bottom of the window
Hope one of those works for you.
