Ok, so I now know this because my grand-dog ate a bunch of cough drops... yes, the teens leave stuff laying around, not remembering they have a 3 month old puppy in the house ... Hall's won't hurt a dog, but Ricola is really dangerous because they have a Lot of xylitol in them, which is poisonous to dogs. Fortunately, their little girl ate Hall's.

Emergency vet: "Don't bring anything with xylitol into the house if you have puppies/dogs."

"But if they do ingest some, get them to the nearest vet ASAP!"

In general, don't leave any drugs or related items out where pets or children might find them. Their bodies might react completely different than yours.
And don't even think of "It worked for me, so I'll just give them half the dose for half the body weight" if your kids or pets are ill.
