best varieties for cold short season in NE

i live in the adirondack mts in ny and have gardened with limited success. i'm looking for suggestions about the varieties of the most common garden vegetables that are best suited for NE mountainous areas or northern maine. i generally grow tomatoes, broccoli, sugar snap peas, collards, winter and summer squash, lettuce, cucumbers, bush beans.
