Has anyone noticed that Russia is attacking our ally .. Ukraine ... and now some of the sanctions are being taken off Russia?

Is this part contested territory?

How long has it been contested?

Have these attacks been ongoing, or is this a new event?

Who lives in the region?

Are there agreements in place between the nations over the borders and conduct there, and in any buffer zones that may exist?
