Alright, our language has been distorted.

ONLY use the word "save" when you are putting something in to a savings account.

Otherwise, you are only allowed to use the word "spend."

Such as.... I spent one dollar on this shirt.

Or, I spent twenty bucks on this shirt.

If the shirt used to be fifty bucks, you still SPENT 20 bucks on the shirt. Did you really want to spend 20 bucks on a shirt?

Haha! I find this amusing, too. If someone tells my dad, "I saved $20 on this shirt." He'll say, "No, you spent $25." Once when I was younger, I said something like, "Dad, I could save 65% on ______." His reply? "You could save 100% by not buying it and taking a trip to the bank." LOL I used to find it super annoying. I appreciate it now, though. It really makes me think about what I am spending and if I actually need what I am buying.

Yes, we totally get that now too. All the ads that say "The more you spend, the more you save!" We say "You can't fool us!"

Yes, my dd likes to say, "but we'll be SAVING 40%!"
And then there is "winning" stuff on Ebay :laff:
