Looks like a rhododendron or azalea to me. What ecosystem, state, city, etc. is it in?

Is it a shrub or herbaceous plant? Can you give us a shot that includes leaves?

I have no idea what that is. It's rather awful-interesting.

Are we looking at a stalk of it? Does it grow with one stalk form the ground like in the photo?

It's probably something tropical or something that produces fruits.

Well, I can't give any info, because it was sent to me. So, I don't know where it's from or the leaves....never seen an azalea with stocks though.

Without an eco context, it's pretty much impossible to tell. It looks to be from the Ericaceae family, which is what rhodies are from. So are thousands of other genus & species plants.

I've never seen a horsechestnut with those colors....but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
