dh came home from a wonderful trip and got this message saying there has been suspios activity on your acct. please call; we thought it was a scam but luckily dh had called; so appareently we were a victim of the atm screen device;

dh had withdrawn money from our local atm and it was copied; the id and someone promptly toook two withdrawls of 500.00 each!!!:0!

talk about scared; first they weren't indicating that we would get the money back; had to go through channels; fraud department; well luckily the bank wa open the next day and we marched down; we indicated we were good customers which could be seen in our hx; we weren't in illinois where the money was stolen; she said it could take up to 45 dayys:0!

dh then called again and the money lucky for us was returned:D

lesson learned; we aren't using the atm machines anymore; its back to the withdrawl slips

its so scary out there

just an fyi for folks

Yikes! Thanks for the reminder to be careful with ATMs.

Yes, this happened to us, too. Luckily we were also not in the state where the money was taken. Someone actually made a spare ATM card. We were able to get the money back within a week or two. Glad it all worked out!

DH got his debit card stolen from our gym (it was in a locker and locked!), and our situation was settled within 24 hrs. luckily, we don't have that much in our account at any given time (deposits are made into savings, for which we have to transfer to debit), so they weren't able to make the $1200 in purchases that they were trying to make, and we only lost about $300. So it was easily replaced by the bank, and they also replaced our debit cards, etc.

it was a credit union, though, so maybe that's the difference?
