Did I mention how much I enjoy television? http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-gen050.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php) Oh yes, I know it's a veritable wasteland, but there are little treasures to be found.

While I putter about today, I'm watching an Ingenious Minds marathon on the Science Channel: a whole parade of gifted savants--artists, inventors, musicians, all channeling the brilliance of the Cosmic Consciousness. If you don't believe there is such a thing, watching these people might convince you. Especially Derek Amato, who dove into the shallow end of a pool, hitting his head, and came up virtually a concert pianist, never having had a music lesson.

High school dropout and electronics engineer John Robison survived childhood bullying to become a self-taught inventor and advocate for Autism Speaks. A partial list of featured individuals: George Widener (artist), Alonzo Clemens (sculptor), Jon Sarkin (artist), and Temple Grandin (animal empath/industrial designer).

There seems to be a split between victims of brain trauma and people born with Asperger's among those featured. Many of them are shown undergoing brain mapping, with thought provoking results. Good stuff.

Temple Grandin is one of my agrarian heroes. Amazing woman. I didn't realize someone had done a doc on her. Thanks for the heads up.

I've long thought Grandin's characterization of herself as being "an anthropologist on Mars" was perfect. I've felt that way myself more than once, likely to a much lesser degree.
