Knowing what you know now, if you were starting over in your ideal living situation what would your 100 items be? Let's assume you are not responsible for any family heirlooms unless you want to be. Assume another relative will take good care of them.

I am guessing that food does not count in the hundred items, because it is used up and replenished all the time. And, yarn is also another renewable resource, yes? Please? Although, using yarn would be for gifts and stuff, but could add extra things like mittens, scarves, hats. Rats.

No space for art supplies...at all...and I am screwed on books, because I have at least a dozen that I read over and over again, although I do use the library every week for several books and DVDs, although those would have to go because I do not have space on the list for a small television and DVD player, or even a portable DVD player. Double rats.

This is too hard and I have, even after divesting several tons of stuff, still too much stuff. But...but...but...how am I going to get rid of my paints, pens, pencils, brushes, little easel, papers, canvases and all the rest? Photographs. Art on the walls. Art outside. Books...man, my goal was to get down to less than two hundred of those, and now I feel greedy and selfish for wanting even that many. And, having given away nearly two thousand books already does not help me to feel much better about the whole book thing.

I can live with only a few dishes and clothes, as I actually do that now, but 100 things means the loss of much of what gives my life meaning and pleasure. Does that make me spoiled and selfish?

I am sitting here, in my studio, looking at all of the stuff. If I woke up tomorrow morning and it was all gone, I would be totally bummed out, but I would survive because I would still have my cats and family and friends and I am wondering why the kitties are at the top of that list, but that is best left unexplored, I think.

The bottom line is that I like my stuff. I love that shelf with all of the wonderful papers. I groove on that other shelf (and bucket thing) that holds all of my lovely yarns and fibers. I adore the wall in front of me that has all of that cool art that friends have made for me, and the tracing of the labyrinth that I did with Lauren Artress, and all of the family photographs there, and the beads and the...hell. Yeah. I am spoiled. Selfish, too.

In every variety of the 100 items list I've seen, consumables like toilet paper, food, etc., weren't included.
