Just got an email from Amazon about their new book lending feature for Amazon Prime members. If you have Prime, you can borrow up to one book a month free of charge -- the available books include NYT best sellers. Not enough to keep up with my reading habits, but might be worth it as an add on -- some of the books I want to get from the library have very long hold lists, and this would be a way to get around that for newer titles. Noticed that they also offer video streaming to Prime members.
This seems like a really interesting development -- like they are shifting toward being a content provider more than a retail company. Interesting to think of this and their move into publishing and the ways that might affect our lives in the future, so just thought I'd mention it.
