Kitchen Cabinetry with Thermofoil surface

Has anyone out there ever re-surfaced/painted cabinetry with the satiny thermofoil exterior?

I really would like to paint the doors of my kitchen cabinets, but it is covered with this stuff, and I don't know if paint will adhere to it, or if it has to be completely stripped off.

I'm sure they're just Home Depot cabinets. Came with the house. White and boring.

KayLRZ. From everything I have read related to refinishing/painting over Thermofoil cabinets, all that is required is a quality plastic primer and a little elbow grease in the way of prepping/sanding.

Years ago when we were first starting out and looking at painting as a way to change and freshen our lives, the owners of longtime/established paint stores were the best resource of all when it came to helpful advice/ideas. P.S. Love the sounds of your project already! :)
