I am in need of a recommendation or two for some new instrumental music to play for my girls at bedtime. We've always played music for them, but I'm kinda sick of playing the same old cd's. I especially like celtic music, but would welcome any suggestion. oh, and we'd like to graduate from lullabies, which makes the search a little less obvious. :) thanks!

I don't know how old your girls are, but as a starting point I selected a handful of my own favourites that for the most part reflect famous bands and orchestras synonymous with classic instrumental tunes.

Of course you could also go with a variety of Baroque, Classical, Orchestral, or Chamber music as well. (Listen below to wet your appetite).

Lully--Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme (part 1).

(The Canaries movement is an all-time favourite of mine found at 4:40).

If you want something different, you can go for baroque.

I like Voices of music (http://magnatune.com/artists/voicesofmusic).

Otherwise, everything on Mrs M's list looks great tome.

For Celtic, especially if you like harp, I love just about everything by Kim Robertson (http://www.kimrobertson.net/) and Gráinne Hambly (http://grainne.harp.net/).

Gary Stadler. Also Ryan Farish, Jim Brickman, George Winston, Lorie Line and Jon Scmidt. Also, AOL radio has a pretty good Celtic radio station. You can listen to that for artists you like.

Raziela. Amazon is a superb website when it comes to ordering rare, hard to find, and old music selections. Sample listening tracks are available for most albums searched.

I'm still looking for others. I'll check out classical guitar, too. Thanks

For bedtime, some of the CDs that are "meditation music", or the ones that have sounds of nature are very relaxing. Good for folks heading into sleep.
