View Full Version : FY 2011 Financials
Hi folks,
I closed out the 2011 books on Monday -- here is the top level report for SLF. (Sorry, it won't let me format this in a report kind of way.)
(Net 2010 -$185.51)
2011 Income
Donations $2493.00 (ETA: 43 members donated in 2011 -- some of them w/several small periodic donations)
2011 Expenses
Paypal Fees 43.50
Labor 1209.60
Internet 579.97
Total Exp $1833.07
Net 2011 $659.93
Fund Balance as of 12/31/2011 $474.42
Thanks, Rosie, that is good info to have. Should it be put into a sticky so that members can refer to it?
Why is labor such a large part of the annual expense, and should we expect it to continually consume 2/3 of the operating budget?
Please see http://www.simplelivingforum.net/showthread.php?3525-2011-Expenses-Implications-for-2012
Razz, I don't think that's necessary -- not like people need to be referring to this continually.

Good to see we're afloat and doing ok! Rob
Yeah, for now we're doing, OK, but I wonder for how much longer the 25-30 of us are going to continue footing-the-bill for a forum, 1000 members strong...

Last year my donation equaled more than half of this site's operating expenses. I won't be making that contribution this year. It will be interesting to see if donations meet expenses in 2012.

Last year my donation equaled more than half of this site's operating expenses.I always knew you were a driving-force behind this forum. I personally want to take this moment to express a sincere thank you (to you, Iris), and to the others here who gave more (because they could), in order to help secure a future for our new home. A future home for those of us who actively take part in, participate in, and donate to the better of, because we recognize (and appreciate) what a good thing we have. Thank you for being so giving and generous.
Hopefully all who visit this thread, will see that the calculated figures wouldn't be anything what they are, and the future of our new home (but a year old, sigh), would be in a perilous state, had we not had members (like Iris and others) who were able to help more.

I won't be making that contribution this year. Sooner or later, the levee breaks, doesn't it... Even myself, who isn't fortunate enough to provide anywhere near the financial aid and support I'd like to be able to offer, yet still makes a conscientious effort to apply what I can/when I can, am abhorred over the lack of support I have seen since the inception of our new home. It definitely does not (at all) reflect the level of interest (or promise) that was expressed on the old forum at the time we were informed that our old home was closing it's doors for good.

Thanks for the info. I don't have any expertise or knowledge or time to help out in any way other than a financial donation, and I don't have much extra for that, either, but I'll do what I can. Rosie, I know pay-pal has fees, but there are costs to processing checks also - is one better than the other? Mrs. M, I too wish more people would donate, even just a little. I really appreciate this site, and want it to continue. I was pretty upset at the negativity that came out towards Dave at the old site when it was winding down - complaints that he spent too much, expected pay for his time, etc, etc (which I NEVER understood), so I expected that those who came on over here would have a better mind-set and contribute more. I guess not, eh?
