He just came up for some lap sitting/petting. He's a miniature Australian shepherd and just the sweetest thing ever. What kind of dog do you have that you love?

I love my Golden Retrievers (hence, goldensmom) and I love my neighbors 3 Australian shepherds. My Goldens like lap time too.

bae, is the black one a 'poodle-doodle' of some kind?

A Portuguese Water Dog, in bad need of a haircut. I let her fluff out during the winter, so she looks more like a sheep than a dog this time of year.

yes, like Bo in the White House. She is cute, but I'm partial to the hound myself.

Our old black lab, pound puppy mix is build along the same lines as bae's hound. She's a lover, slowing down and acting borderline needy in her advancing age, but jumps like a puppy when told we're going for a ride in the truck.

I like the look bae. When I was a youngster, my parents had a black poodle that had, what my mom called, a 'puppy cut' (she did not like the poodle-do) which made the pup look like a fuzzy mutt dog. I liked the 'disheveled' look and loved the dog too.

I still miss my golden retriever, Levi, and he has been gone 8 years now. His back exploded. Best dog I've ever owned.
Currently we have little TomDog who is a cross between bengi and an ewok. His underbite creates a very funny expression! He was dumped on my dad's farm and came home with the boys 7 years ago.

Mine is a border collie/shepherd mix from the SPCA. Smartest dog I ever owned. :)
At night she brings us toys to trade for dog biscuits. By bedtime the livingroom is littered with toys so we tell her to put them away before bed AND SHE DOES!!! She picks up every single toy and returns them to the bedroom where her toybox is. She cleans up better than my kids did. >8) She's 11 years old now with hip and leg problems. She still wants to "help" me with chores, but just can't do it. It is very sad. I am dreading the day we don't have her anymore. She's more then a dog, she's my bestest buddy. :D

I have a pug, a chihuahua and a corgi. They are my heart. Before them we had rescue shelties for years until they passed on....miss them very, very much!

Hattie, I have a terrier/border collie mix and she is also smart. But you have to spend a lot of time outdoors with her--and she'll retrieve for hours on end! http://www.flickr.com/photos/42911906@N08/5376053411/

Bae, would that tired basset be the eagle fighting wonder dog?

We have two dachshunds that we adore. Whether we like them or not depends on the given moment and their behavior :)

The very same. Can't you tell from her elegant streamlined form that she is well-suited to aerial combat? :-)

We have a really cute foxhound from the local humane society whoswe need for exercise forces me to go for at least a mile twice every day. Really sweet temperament but definitely not a lapdog as his claws are too sharp and he is too big.

So funny!!

My Corky, a black lab and golden mix, we think, is such a sweetie. He loooooooves his walk. He is a quiet boy who is happy just to have us home. We don't let him up on the furniture to cuddle because of his copious hair, but I always tease DH that I'm going to anyway. :P

Corky came to me five years ago at the age of six from a rescue group. He had a mama with Alzheimers and when she got too bad he had to go with the family, who didn't want him. Evidently they used to sit on the couch and eat ice cream! I have all his vet records from puppyhood and his weight confirms that he was eatin' SOMETHING he shouldn't have been!

Corky is sooooooo soft, especially on his head. Sometimes I go just nutty thinking of how cute he must have been as a puppy. O.M.G. Here he is in the Boundary Waters last year. He loved being free and being outside. He'd never been on a camping trip before, so we laughed to ask ourselves: "Does he think this is our new life?"

Nice thread!!

Brittany for me. As much as I like the companionship, I really like dogs that still work. Mine is a bird dog, but herding dogs are good too. Something very elemental and satisfying in that relationship.
