coffee drinker! http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/userpics/10172/kaffesmile.gif
My newest and latest (greatest thing) is adding pure cocoa to my coffee. Half a teaspoon is all you need, but wow! Decadent indulgence. Give it a try if you haven't already.
Yum! I haven't tried regular cocoa powder in it yet. It does sound decadent. Thanks for the tip!

oooh I do this every afternoon. My 'cafe mocha' I use decaf because it is late afternoon and add half a packet of hot choco mix (not as fancy as yours Mrs. M) but wow, nice choco rush and such a treat for a sweet loving/coffee loving girl!
I love coffee and I love chocolate, but adding (bitter) cocoa powder to (bitter) coffee doesn't sound good to me personally. I drink my daily coffee black, no sugar, but if I am in the mood for a mocha, I need some sugar to go with the coffee and the chocolate.
This reminds me; I need to go get another cup of coffee. So happy because work finally started buy really good coffee (beans! they bought grinders!). Giant improvement over the industrial stuff we had before.
Coffee addict,
Kara
The only time I ever enjoyed black coffee was during regular late-night rendezvous with a long-ago love. (At Denny's, of all places.) I hated the stuff, so I'd drink it as fast as I could and the oh-so-efficient server was right there to refill my cup. Considering the circumstance, I developed a kind of love/hate relationship with coffee straight up.
That said, I never drink it black now. If it doesn't taste like dessert, I want no part of it. I use flavored beans and add (SF) flavors from da Vinci, cream, whey protein, cocoa, coconut and/or almond milk...A morning ritual.
My mom adds cocoa to her oatmeal!
I make my afternoon latte with leftover morning coffee, some milk, and a big squirt of Hershey's syrup, heated up in the microwave. :)

Hummm.............that sounds interesting. I want my coffee, hot, black and nothing else, but oatmeal on the other hand.... Can you go into more detail redfox? I mean once it is cooked does she just dump in a spoonful of cocoa, or does she cook it in with the oatmeal? I need more info here............might want to give it a try!

Depends, on how high end the cocoa powder is :). The stuff for ordinary baking no. But Valrohna cocoa powder or something I could see it (can basically make hot chocolate with that stuff without sugar). Maybe a touch of stevia. I try to avoid caffeine, but sometimes give in :\. So when I do, I prefer tea but will take both tea and coffee with cream (or the closest immitation), no sugar.
I just sneak a shot of my DD's chocolate milk into my coffee once in a while. Sometimes I forget the coffee.
I bought some cream last night to make cream of mushroom soup for DH's birthday dinner. They didn't have the small package I would normally buy, so I got a big package. Just put some in my coffee. YUMMMM!!!! So much richer than regular milk. I think I have a new indulgence...

My mom adds cocoa to her oatmeal!
My kids do that too. Cocoa, brown sugar and toasted coconut is their current favourite oatmeal combo. Kind of a German Chocolate Cake oatmeal minus the nuts.
For those adventurous enough to try it, do let me know what you think. As for myself, I honestly don't think I'll ever go back to drinking coffee without cocoa. Well, cocoa, and orange zest.
As for thicker, richer cream, there is no other option. A really nice alternative to heavy cream, is condensed/evaporated milk. Delicious!
Re: oatmeal and cocoa, a few raspberries or strawberries (or what ever berries you fancy) adds one more level of delight!
By the way, if you can find it in your area, Fry's Cocoa!

Gregg, that reminds me of when I used to go out with friends after work and, not being a 'drinker' I would order rum and coke, no rum.
A friend suggested evaporated milk in coffee and it sounded awful but when I tried it I found it to be awfully good.
In today's paper there was an article about now being able to inhale caffeine. Said it would take one hour to inhale the caffeine equivalent to about 10 large coffees. This sound totally crazy to me!
ROTFLMAO, Goldensmom! Nothing IMO compares to the richness of evaporated milk in coffee/tea. I like it even better than half & half or straight whipping cream.
Frugal-one. According to researchers, one to two cups of coffee a day may help prevent liver cancer. I tread lightly on cancer research findings, so even though the inhaling of caffeine sounds funky, I like to think that coffee, made the old-fashioned way and drank, is still the better way to go. Something to think about anyway...
I also use evaporated milk in my tea. I usually don't drink much coffeee or tea - maybe one 12 - 16 ounce cup a day - but use to have a Mocha every morning from a fancy coffee shop back in my working days. Now it's a small cup o' Joe from Micky D's (which is good) with 2 creams and 2 sugars with an occasional mocha as a treat.
Evaporated milk, rules! :)

Mrs-M, do you add sugar to your concoction? I would think it would be very bitter without.
I love coffee with milk and sugar. I only indulge in that on Sunday though because I just don't need all that sugar and caffeine in my life on a daily basis. The rest of the week I drink decaf green tea, but my Sunday coffee sure is a treat! :) I will add some cocoa next time.

Don't know! I'll ask her...
Wildflower. Just a little honey. So yummy!!!
Mighty Frugal. Being that you are Canadian and all, look for Fry's Cocoa, next time you are out and about. You'll curse me forever after you try it! :)
Sad Eyed Lady. Sprinkle oatmeal with cocoa just prior to eating.
I am not a "real" coffee drinker, but I have Suisse Mocha regularly. Lately, tho, I have noticed that they have repackaged it from metal containers to plastic and have reduced the amount to just above half of the old. I refuse to buy it. How dumb do they think we are?
Anyway, we have a wonderful Mennonite grocery about 10 miles from us and I found a pound sack of mix for the same price as one of the original tins except that it will fill 3 of them . And to my delite, it tastes just the same. Happy, happy!
That sounds good, too, Sissy. I cannot drink coffee (at home) anymore without a dash of cinnamon, a sliver of orange zest, and a 1/3 of a teaspoon of cocoa powder. Coffee, isn't what it used to be for me, i.e. a morning drink to provide me with caffeine, it's now become my guilty pleasure/indulgence!

I will have to try that! I love honey in hot tea when I have a sore throat. Have never tried it in coffee, but with the cocoa too I bet it is scrumptious! :D
It's delicious, Wildflower! You're going to love it! I prefer liquid honey, so I don't have to wait for the solid version to melt off the spoon, then dissolve before stirring.
Bumping this thread, in hopes of hearing from someone (anyone) who gave my cocoa idea a try. :)

I did and I LOVED it!! For someone who loves both coffee and chocolate - this is a truly divine concoction! :D
Not sure why I never thought to try this on my own because I've added vanilla to my coffee many times in the past, just never thought to add cocoa.... >8)
It really does make for such a rich cup of coffee doesn't it, Wildflower! :)
