Our National Parks are truly a treasure. We have a free lifetime access pass we acquired for our special needs grandson and it is very well used.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't know they had free days either but I buy an annual Nat Park Pass (as well as an annual Calif State Park Pass) and have found both to be very very valuable on trips even when you have to pay for them.

Awesome! I think you can get what's called a Golden Access pass if you're a senior citizen or disabled that let's you get in or camp at a discount.

National Forest campgrounds have their own version or the same version for retirees. DH and DFIL use DFIL's every year when they go camping on the edge of the Boundary Waters for two weeks.

Also, the Smoky Mountain National Park is always free. In the process of creating it, that was one of the stipulations. It is a gorgeous area if you can look past the tourist traps surrounding the park.
