Tell me about your helleobores

These flowers have always fascinated me, with their shades of green and grey. Grey flowers! How cool. So I'm goign to plunge in and buy some, probalby mail order unless I find a good selection here.

Who grows them, how do they do, etc.

I have one that's maroon at first, and then more white. I probably wouldn't have gone out of my way to buy one, but this nursery near me has these fun themed container garden classes and that was one of the plants I received in my class. Hearty in this formerly zone 5b, now zone 6a garden without any fuss. Nice early bloomer, coincident with the crocus or so.
