With the current situation in Egypt, and increasing oil prices, gas prices could be going up.
Today I needed gas so filled the tank. Gas was $3.33.
I hadn't filled the tank for several weeks so don't remember if that is up much.
What is it in your area?
I think it was $4.53/gallon for premium when I filled up last week, but gas prices here are higher than the mainland, as all gasoline has to be barged in.
Luckily, as a family combined, we drive perhaps 15 miles a day on average.

$3.05 - $3.15 gallon is typical, but we can get it for $2.97 if we seek out the best deals (e.g. Costco being one).
The last time I filled up it was $2.87 but it's been a couple of weeks. According to MSN the lowest here is $2.94
$3.19 but a day ago it was $2.97 and a couple days before that it was $3.19.
It was $3.08 on Thursday. $3.19 today. South Central Indiana.
About $3.20 here, NE Illinois, Chicago suburbs.

$2.85 at Walmart in Austin yesterday....but screamingflea has the best price of all!
it's $1.15 a liter wich is $4.60 a gallon here in Canada.

Also over $3/gallon in the Twin Cities. I don't usually pay attention but when it costs more than $30 to fill my tank I do take notice.

Good for you. Yours is the most reasonable price for gas I have seen.
I think we are now over $3, but we will be using a lot less gasoline starting yesterday when we moved. my husband now walks to work, and I have a 5 minute drive. we sold our second car. so even if gas prices go to $10, we are still ahead from where we were one week ago.
last time prices went up, it was when it was over $4 that I really noticed the impact on our budget, and I heard the most comments from others as well. I had a friend who drove a big SUV. She refused to pay more than $100 for a tank of gas (and she drove a lot - 3 kids, work, college, etc). She would fill it until it was in the high $90s total, and then just turn it off and pay the bill whether it was full or not.
$3.06 when I went to buy gas for the generator on Thursday.
I'm very leery of the $50 fill-up as I'm still driving 1500 miles a month (down from 2400 in 2009).

If there was a convenient bus route near me, I'd consider using it. I have in the past when there was.
As I mentioned, it was $3.33 yesterday at the cheap station (Southern California). Although I generally have been careful about conserving (combining trips, no 'pleasure' driving, waiting till the 'list' is long), when gas gets this high, I get even more consciencious. It would now cost approximately $3 in gas for a round-trip to costco. :0!
2.97 here in small-town Iowa. Ick!
$3.19 in the Lansing area. Thursday when I went in to the plasma center it was $3.08 when I came out 3 hours later it was $3.19.
Oregon - Costco $ 3.07 regular unleaded., down the street @ Union 76 - $ 3.24
$2.86 as of this morning.
2.95 in Branson, MO tonight........I better fill up tonight if there is any gas left in town. With the weather coming everyone is probably out filling their tanks tonight.

$2.87 in west central Missouri.
I paid about $3 a gallon the other day. It's a bit more than that now. My car needs mid-grade gas. The needle was buried in the E (literally running on fumes) so it took over $30.
That will last me around 2-3 weeks though. I drive 80-100 miles per week, typically & get about 35 miles to the gallon.

Like rosarugosa, $3.05 to $3.19 in our area, although I have seen regular at $3.33. Near the interstate, of course.

this week it's 1.52 Euro per liter here in Germany, which is about 5.64 Euro per gallon.
In dollar this would be about 7.85 $
Going from Bisbee AZ through Las Cruces, El Paso, Dallas, Little Rock, I've been able to find gas under $3 the whole way. Lowest $2.88, typical $2.95.
Jimmy, just curious, if it's not TMI, what is a typical salary where you are? How much would you pay for ... a few typical things like ... hmm. Lol. I'm realizing that it's quite difficult to think of anything here that has a "standard" price ... could you describe a few things you buy and how much they are? I know that gas is comparatively more expensive in the EU because of taxes, but I'm curious if that $7.85 corresponds to a wholly different economic scale, or just a really expensive commodity.
3.22 but I think that was for the 10% ethanol gas. Regular is 3.30ish.

typical salary? hm -- let me think.
I have a university degree in Economics and worked as a Controller at a local newspaper (I retired at the age of 40, thanks to YMOYL). My last salary was about 35 grand (single, no kids), which is about 50,000 $ .
A friend of mine earns 22,000 Euro (logistics planning, married, two kids) = 31,000 $
Social security (called Hartz IV here) is 4,400 Euro for a grown-up which is about 6,200 $ (per year with rent and central heating payed extra).
1 liter milk = 0.54 Euro (0.70 $)
1 loaf of bread (750 gramm) = 2 Euro (2.80 $)
10 eggs (battery farm) = 1.30 Euro (1.80 $)
rent (500 square feet in a middle sized town) = 450 Euro (630 $)
a new BMW 318i (pricelist, no extras) = 29,000 (40,000 $)
in my hometown, garbage removal (four different garbage cans - paper, plastic, organic stuff and all the rest) is 120 Euro for one year = 170 $
I pay 350 Euro (500 $) a month for regular health care. When you want so see a doctor you pay an extra 10 Euro (14 $) once at the beginning of every quarter year (dentist goes extra) plus 10 Euro per day when you have to be hospitalized. Medication has fixed prizes as well. It goes from 5 Euro for a small package to 9 Euro for a big one.
I'm going to have a new dental crown for my incisor and will have to pay 450 Euro (630 $) next month
Jimmy, interesting snapshot. One category you do much better on is health care. Between employee's share of health insurance and co-payments/uncovered items, we spend about $1000 a month--and we have what most people would consider a "Cadillac" plan.
Fortunately, we got to Ireland last summer when the Euro was about $1.20. It's $1.35 now.
Ouch, filled up my wee car this weekend. I used to be able to fill up both tanks in truck for this kind of money, and have cash left over for lunch. I'm glad I have about 150 gallons of fuel left on my boat, which should last the summer, at these prices it will cost me > $1500 to refuel.

My last fill up was over the weekend and I paid $3.69 at Kroger. My little Toyota Echo gets around 40 miles per gallon so can't complain too much, but it's still ridiculous when, (according to ABC news), there is not a gas shortage at all, we are not even pumping at capacity - this is all caused by speculation! Quit speculating - it's costing us too much!!!!!!!!!!
It's in the $3.60s here, too (Iowa). I only drive a few times a week, but it is painful! When I bought my Lancer back in 2002, I could fill it up for around $15. Now it costs around $40 to fill up that same car. Eek! I really feel for people who have a long daily commute.
It is $3.69 here in Central Jersey.....thank God I don't have a long commute or drive every day!

It's been holding steady at $4.17 for regular at the "cheap" station here for a week. I sure wish I could go to the Shell refinery two miles from my house and get a discount! At the closest station to my house, a Shell, regular is $4.27
Thank goodness my daily commute is only 20 miles round trip and my '97 Jetta gets decent gas mileage (~30 mpg).

Well..not quite European prices (ouch) but here in Toronto Canada we are paying $135.5/litre which converts to $5.42 a gallon-ouch.

we paid 4.29.9 for diesel in AZ just before the CA border, and in CA here it is 4.49.9 Gas here in CA is between $4.25 and 4.50 mostly.....thankfully, we are settled down, nesting for a couple of months and won't be driving, and when we do, it will be in the little Prius, which consistently, over three years has averaged about 52 mpg.
If we want to see any real changes, which need to be made, it will have to go a lot higher, which will hurt many, but in the end, spur research into alternate fuels, more efficient engines, etc. so will try to keep that in mind at the pumps.
middle of the country and typically among the lowest in gas prices. We're at $3.59 regular.
We are sitting at 128.9/L here today. Boo. So about 5.16/gallon. Yuck.
$3.80 to $3.95 for regular today in Maryland suburbs of DC.
Santa Fe looks to be around 3.74 a gallon. We sold our car when it was $1.60 a gallon, but rising fuel costs mean everything is more expensive. Plus, we're renting a car for a couple of weeks this summer to visit family. I hope it holds off climbing any higher. How much does it cost to fill up a tank of gas at those prices?
I filled up today in Arnold California and regular was 4.26 a gal.
At the moment in my area, it's £1.26/litre for unleaded, which, if my subpar math skills serve me correctly, equates to something like $7.82 per US gallon. You guys get it pretty cheap across the pond.
SoCal: 4.09 at the Arco and 4.19 to 4.25 at the other places like Mobil, Shell, etc... Glad I don't really have to go anywhere, drive a compact car, and ride my bike alot! Of course it's still MUCH cheaper than a large (er... excuse me...Grande) cup of Starbucks fancy coffee :-)!

Average seems to be about $3.75/gal in the greater Boston area. It's interesting to see that we're in the lower US range, since we're generally considered to be quite a high cost of living area.

Gas prices in coastal North Carolina are hovering around $3.75/gallon. When we moved here in 2003 from Northern California, gas cost $1.38/gallon.
Was thinking: Bananas are selling for $.54/pound at the local store. Wonder if my car could run on bananas. Anyone ever try it? Fumes might smell like banana pudding. Kind of nice.

You could convert to biodiesel and pick up used cooking oil for free from all the fast food joints. Then you'd be smaelling like french fries :-)!

It is $4.09/gal here in DuPage Co. Illinois. More in Cook County, where the taxes are higher. A cup of Starbucks whatever might cost more than one gallon of gas, but I need more than 1 gal. to get to Kentucky to help out my mom. I would be happy to see anything under $4.00 now. We have small cars, and gas is not a real major expense,but driving on this kind of trip is not my usual kind of driving. So, obviously, this is going to cost more than usual. I would take the train, because I haven't seen a train-car accident for a few months, but I will need my car to drive my mom to the dr. for her surgery, and to get some food since I don't eat all the frozen dinner she eats. So I will also need to go to the store to get stuff to make some "regular" meals. She seems to enjoy it, and her blood pressure is always lower when I am home, cooking.
I paid about $4.20 in central Indiana yesterday for premium. I keep buying premium because the Honda guy told me its necessary for the passing gear. ?????
Finally saw it above $4/gallon her in SE Michigan; one station by the freeway was actually $4.15! I will be taking the bus to work for the next few days.
$3.999 per gallon in SW Ohio this afternoon. I'm gonna call that $4
The funny thing is, the price range within a one mile radius is from $3.74 to $3.99.
