Wow, great website. It had so many different and unique types of tiny house. I love the creativity of the designs. Some people may think that a tiny house is limited in how it can be designed but this website shows how diverse they can be.

My favourite! I LOVE the Williams Cabin! So clean and refined and polished.

I LOVE glass-houses, so just HAD to post this (http://home4lifenow.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Small-Glass-House.jpg) beauty.

Thanks Mrs M. I had the realization this week that I could only comfortably live in a tiny house was if there was at least one wall of windows. While I love the idea of those Tiny Houses, there was always something about them that made me uncomfortable, and I just realized its the claustrophic feeling of them because they don't tend to have many or large expanses of glass. A wall of glass can make even a tiny house feel more expansive.

Thanks for posting, Tussiemussies. I've been interested in small houses for a few years now. People will definitely be moving to smaller houses in the future (out of necessity if not choice), but right now there are some problems with trying to build a small house in many areas, which require minimal house sizes. I've also found that most small houses of the sort you see on that site, which are often designed by cutting-edge architects, are usually prohibitively expensive. What we need are designs that can be afforded by real people.

That said, there are a couple of designs there I could see myself living quite happily in. Not too sure about the practicality of some of them, though, such as the tree houses. I could go for the hermit's cabin, but only if it comes with the Swedish supermodel standing in the door ;).

Love tiny houses....but must have windows and outdoor space.
I did like the one with two shipping crates, reminded me of a friend's welding studio.

I so agree, Herbgeek. I, too, suffer from claustrophobia, and would need openness through extensive use of large expanses of glass.

Thank you for posting the website. Also enjoy www.tinyhouseblog.com (http://www.tinyhouseblog.com). It is my dream to move into a tiny house one day. I am trying to get rid of all the excess stuff in my house right now. The more I get rid of the more I seem to find. My DH and I went to a downtown hotel last year without a suitcase. It was a liberating experience. We figured out how to get our needs met without any baggage. I imagine how free it would feel to live in a tiny house without clutter.

Did also recently on Facebook I believe, a school bus made into a house. Some of you mentioned that you would feel claustrophobic if there were no windows, on this bus they had a bank of windows that they kept on both sides. It really was a great design.

:)

Mrs. M I really like the house you posted, the woods surrounding it must make for wonderful views.:)

I doubt I am the only one, who would rather the glass had mirror film in some rooms.

Of all glass houses, this (http://0.tqn.com/d/architecture/1/0/B/l/glasshouse.jpg) one is my very favourite. Here (http://minimalifestyle.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/glass_house__photo_by_robin_hill_c.jpg) is another spectacular picture of it in the evening.

It's the Philip Johnson Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut.

I also have the dream of moving into a tiny house and have been working on "letting go"/decluttering the material side of my life for the las tcouple years. It seems to be taking forever to get to the right number of "things", but I am enjoying and learning so much from this journey. I definitely have a renewed sense of hope about my future when I think of living smaller. Just the thought of the smallest bit of success in this direction makes me happy.

I could go for the hermit's cabin, but only if it comes with the Swedish supermodel standing in the door ;).

The hermit's cabin would work best for me, because it would blend right in with the rustic woodsy spot that I have in mind for it. The Swedish supermodel, however, will have to go.
