I posted about my mountain resort rat life in the "More Cabin Porn" thread but what are you? Do you live like a city mouse, a country mouse, a resort rat or "other"? Which one would you like to like given the choice?

Suburban mouse who escapes to wilderness on week-ends.
I have no desire to live in the city again.

That makes me so happy!
I would choose to be a country something, maybe a cat who keeps goats and rabbits and has opposable thumbs for gardening and making popcorn and for sewing.
Ooh, good one. I really enoy having a cabin on our 10 acres and a townhouse in a resort island-like area, that is also close to the city. I get the best of both worlds, so am glad for experiencing a little bit of everything.

I have lived all my life in the suburbs, and am ready for a change. I can absolutely see the appeal of country/mountain/lake/forest living, but we are looking into trying out the city. Current possibilities: Seattle or Alameda, CA. I certainly enjoy living somewhere (the Bay Area, CA) where city or country is pretty accessible. My parents live at Lake Tahoe and I enjoy visiting there for sure.

Suburban forest dweller here. I could imagine living in a edgy mod urban condo, but only briefly. Small town? It would have to come with mad amenities and a view.
Love my country life with lots of space around me and good neighbours that care for each other. Should something happen to DH, I am thinking that I would stay here for a while longer and then choose to move closer to an urban setting for accessibility reasons possibly a semi-detached with a small garden, not a condo.

A home with wheels and set to be self contained so I can go to whatever situation I feel like at the time.
I'm a hybrid mouse! Half city, half country. Being on the go/fly and away from home, is not my bag. I'm a comfortable home-dweller, happiest when left alone.

I like that!
In general, I tend to feel uneasy in places that demand use of a car. I love either city or country, but I much prefer to be able to walk to basic amenities. That's why I love Ocean Grove, NJ. It's an old-fashioned town with a country feel, but it's one square mile and you can easily walk and get anything you need. It's even a short walk to a train that takes you to NY. AND you have all those wonderful endorphin-producing negative ions from the ocean waves. Perfect.
Has anyone used the website, Find your spot? It's really interesting to plug in the boxes and see what places come up! And then, they give you information on the community. I actuatlly bookmarked and do this every 6 months (for fun). Sometimes the same places come up as my top matches.. sometimes, there's different ones based on how I answered the questions. :)

Great photos! I love the city lights. I'm a small city girl myself and would love a little apt in a great, histroic small city. But, while I have a dog, I need a house and it's easier and cheaper to have one elsewhere (in a resort town in my case) but hope to live in small city someday.

Hey Paula - where are you going? And, more importantly, why aren't you taking me :-)!! Are you planning on doing the full time RV thing when you return to the States? Planning to travel or just a place to live until your next assignment?
can I say "all the above"? There are days I love my rural cabin, days I want to move back to the farm, days I want to waunder, and days I'd enjoy a tiny apartment in a big city.

What a cool site! I just did it for fun.. I had limited my choices to the Northeast (that's where my kids are), and they gave me a GREAT list. Burlington VT was #3, and I've always said I'd live there in a heartbeat! My #1 was Nantucket, but with a median home price of $1,600,000, I don't think I'll be moving there any time soon! #2 was Shelburne Falls, MA, which I've never heard of--it's cool to learn of places that I might love to live in someday.
I just took the quiz and it came up with Hot Springs, Arkansas. I've never even looked at Arkansas. Maybe I should!

I wondered too if the dept of tourism had something to do with that site. All but 5 of the listings for me were in AR (and I'm only 10 miles north of the state line). Don't get me wrong, AR is a beautiful state but I'd like to get a little further away when I move.
