I came across this - it's a project to create a lighting solution in the 3rd world that's powered by gravity instead of kerosene. I thought it's a pretty good idea:

Is that EVER neat-O! Small steps at the start, usually equate to bigger ones at the finish.

That's actually an incredibly great idea from as much as I know about things. Probably relatively simple technology these days and if it goes it could have huge impact on health in 3rd world countries. I passed this along to a friend who was so impressed he sent them some money.
