View Full Version : please encourage me on my last daysoff work
Okay I have had a nice break, Wednesday I am back working and today or tomorrow I need to get into work email and start doing some things to make it all smoother. Meanwhile I have not done my bedroom big cleanup. I realize it is because I think that next month I will have another mess just as big, but really I probably won't, right? This is stuff that built up when my daughter moved back and when i brought materials home from work but didn't have time to sort it all out, and shoes.
So there is a good chance I can take care of it and actually be cleaner for a few months, right?

That's right Zoe Girl! Tackle that project and you will be so pleased with yourself heading into the new year!

If you make a pact with yourself to just do a little each day it will definitely be more manageable and soon you'll be done! Good luck!

Zoe, you do NOT have to get it ALL done tomorrow. You DO have to start.
You want to get this done, then you gotta tackle it at least a little at a time. Tomorrow morning - or after lunch - you go into that bedroom and pick one area and START. Forget the whole project, just get started on the area you've decided to focus on for today. And don't just move the stuff around, actually get what needs to be outta the house OUTTA THE HOUSE. And then deep clean that area. And then we'll work from there - but you will have a good start toward your project.
(If this works Zoe, I expect you to return the favor to me this next week when I tackle my back porch. For me, and possibly for you too, it's the getting started that's the hardest part. It's overwhelming.)
Okay, you go girl! I want a report tomorrow evening on how you got started on the bedroom! And then by Friday, I want you to ask me how I'm coming along on my back-porch project.
Hey, your bedroom vs. my back porch: are you up for a challenge? I need something to get me going. This might just do it! I promise to post honestly.
Are you in? I'm giving myself to the end of the month to complete the job. Maybe we could do this together?

Okay I wil adapt with you guys, I did some today and part of the room is clear and I can sweep. However it really IS going to get done tomorrow or it will wait until, hmm, spring break I was going to do a retreat, and um,... summer is even busier at work for me than the school year, and uuum,
See starting Wednesday I will be back to my intense work schedule, and since it is a lot of working with people I can't get it done ahead of time. I have some big creative projects I want to do at work and I know they will take energy. AND just so you all know I am not that crazy, I have been working on the entire house slowly, my room is just the last place to focus. Buuut, in order to stick with this and pair up with the back porch I will do the room tomorrow and then continue with my office. I seriously have boxes of snacks under my desk that I set my feet on.
I figure if I can do this then it won't immediately get bad again.
Oh bonus! I just did the back porch over the last couple months (delegated to kids a lot) and it looks great so I can sooo be encouraging.

Hey girl, if I can do it, you can do it.!
Finally as of today "my" room is the way I want it (except for the leak in the ceiling, that is depressing.) I've been working on it a bit at a time for 3 years. Over Xmas I moved the final batch of plastic tubs down to the basement, asked DH to move the keyboard back upstairs, and I bought a task lamp and set up a table. So I can now sew, paint, and play the piano in this room. This all happens on top of clean carpet that DH cleaned ten days ago when it looked as though his sister was going to pay a visit and stay all night. She did not come, after all, but DH spent 6 hours cleaning upstairs carpets and bathroom to get ready for her visit. YAY.
Okay it is almost noon on the 1st, I have a dozen paper piles to be filed and maybe checked out. I even paid some things. Not too bad, I have allowed for distraction a bit, researching my phone upgrade for example, and then checking facebook every hour.
COngrats on the clean carpets,
