This is my goal to be like this. :)

A wonderful goal, yes.....and it brings me to three thoughts.
(1) I accidently pared down my winter wardrobe this year, it feels great and I'll be able to do some heavy clothes decluttering later. Maybe. I retired around the same time as I was starting to get into the winter clothes, and ended up only getting out (only needing) 11 tops out of my winter closet (worn with the same 4-5 various pairs of black/blue jeans). I guess I got my favorites out, as I haven't felt any need to go back into that closet to look for anything else. My "retirement life" wardrobe obviously necessitates fewer items. This leaves me with (let me go count.....) okay, 24 various winter tops still in the off-season closet, which I guess I don't really need.
But (2) I'm bad about changing my mind on how I think I look in various items. Or it's something about how I FEEL wearing certain outfits. Like a top/bottom outfit that I love this season, next year I might look at it and think "what in the world made you think you looked good in this?" So if I keep and don't declutter that off-season closet, next year I could use it to shop from instead of spending money going shopping. Maybe that would be smarter?
And (3) Some women have a body that looks awesome and fashionable in anything. I ain't one of them. :) It sometimes amazes me that my best friend, who has a very similar body type to mine (and she's even 10-15 pounds heavier) can put on a flour-sack dress and look fabulous in it, while I can spend an hour putting together the perfect outfit and look like her poor-white-trash-with-a-9th-grade-education second cousin. Is it something about how one carries oneself? Whatever it is, I don't have it.
Just thinking out loud here. A very minimal wardrobe would be simple and fabulous and I would love to go there.....I'm just not seeing it for me.
I think the real value of this is to figure out where your minimal 'sits.' She said in the video something about "then people won't see you wearing the same things. . ." or something. Yeah. Everyone knows my uniform! LOL Nothing new really happens in my wardrobe! I mean, occasionally I replace something.
But, yeah. It's ok that people see repetition, too. :)

Yeah. I gotta agree with this. My current wardrobe is 7 outfits. 3 for work, 4 for non-work days. Nobody at work says anything about the same outfits over and over as they know I am a minimalist. I do get lots of comments when I buy something new. I swear, it's an event for the whole office.:~)
I struggle with my work wear. I am in a corporate position right now and trying to find something less formal, so I can wear my more casual but professional clothes to work. I likea simple knee length skirt and a top, maybe a skinny belt and flat shoe. That is my uniform but I always had to bring a jacket and heels for the corporate world. NOT ANYMORE!!! : )
why/how does the corporate position necessitate high heels?
the jacket is easy enough. if you have one that goes with everything, you can wear it when you need to wear it (traversing? meetings? meeting people?) but then not wear it once you are working (at desk? on your own? with your subordinates?).
I was following the clones :) But I am free of that...
I wear my jackets with my jeans and a t to church or functions.
pick your favorite one or two, then, and be free! :D
It must be very refreshing to live like that. I bet if one has less clothes, they become more creative with layering and combining, like she is!
