I have always envied the mariner life. I myself fancy old tugboats, with lots of large open windows, and room inside to move. What a relaxing and non-stressful life it would be.

What made you give up your mariner life, MamaM?

Well, I joined the Navy and it was nothing less than AWESOME!!! I had what I needed and not much more but was always out on some adventure and I never got bored. The scenery was always changing. I used to laugh when people would miss "home" but I do understand missing family. Marriage and having a child changed things for me but just really means I don't live as small as I used too but I still live as simple as I used to. I adore smallness. I am slowly convincing husband that smaller and maybe more mobile is that way to go. I am a gypsy at heart and have enjoyed all things nautical and beach like since I can remember. Even my "Forts" in the middle of New England were ships asail in some warm water somewhere. ;)

Will check out the other videos and the link to the blog you posted. I definitely see the attraction and sense of freedom that comes from being on the open water.

MamaM, last year I posted a link to a houseboat and I've been on the 'I want to live on a houseboat kick' since then. I have three lakes around me and lots of full-time or seasonal houseboat people. Its taken me a year but yesterday I caught DH looking at some houseboats on Craigslist! Course I look at the $15,000-$30,000 range and he was looking at the $135,000 range.
