View Full Version : March Peeves
I hate that I look completely exhausted when I wake up in the morning, even after 8 hours of sleep and being back on a somewhat normal schedule (for the time being anyway) - the baggy, pouchy, deep dark circles under my eyes are not very becoming. I think it is somewhat hereditary, as I remember my mom looking like this as she got older.
Anyone have tricks to combating this? If it is really bad and I have to go somewhere and I have the time, I'll wrap an ice cube in a piece of paper towel and hold it to the under-eye area, but it doesn't really do much. And I hate caking on make-up under there, as I think it accentuates the fine lines...
As I recall, you are a smoker. Once you stop smoking, you will be amazed at how much better you look.
Oh yeah...but on the plus side, today is day five (though I've had quite a few day five's) of no smoking. Never quit trying to quit, they say, and I haven't. I keep trying!
If only I hadn't of gone out that morning last week for a smoke on my break at work, I wouldn't have fallen on the ice. A pretty expensive lesson, I'd say. What's done is done and working on movin' on from it.
Some people say that the dark circles under the eyes have to do with food allergies. A friend of mine said her kids' pediatrician referred to them as "allergic shiners."
Oh good, a place to air all that is disgruntling.
1. Daylight savings time. I hate it. I am a morning person and we don't need the light at 7pm this time of year when kids have to go to bed for school and it's too cold outside to enjoy anyway.
2. Snow, snow, and more snow in the forecast. I enjoy winter and I think snow is beautiful. But it's the middle of March and I'm done with it for this year. I'm particularly tired of wiping all the melt off my floor and trying to walk outside without losing my shoes in slush.
Dishes! UGH! I hate doing the dishes!

Bolding mine.
First the universe taps you on the shoulder, then it shouts in your ear, then it drops a brick on your head...or words to that effect. I heard that somewhere. The idea is you'll probably take the point to heart eventually.
Sorry, I seemed to hijacked the peeve thread I started today!
JaneV2.0: You know, I think so. This may be the time that quitting works, god willing. The last two nights I have gone out to hear live music and have a beer and I didn't succumb to having a cigarette. Big progress for me, as that type of activity is usually a big, big trigger. I seem to be proving to myself I can break these old patterns. The trick is not let the stinkin' thinkin' of "just one won't hurt" get the better of me, as it has done in the past. It is quite nice to draw a clean, deep breath, not have crud in my throat and to smell nice too!
SouixzQ Good luck with the smoking..sounds as if you are on the right track. You might think about how nice the house will smell, how nice you will smell, all the gifts you give...they all probably smell of smoke and it will be so pleasant when they don't. Might just be another idea to keep you going when health and money reasons don't.
I'm tired of rain. Yes, yes, I live in Seattle... Still... a little sun would be so nice.
Woke up to more...snow. Cripes, I NEED spring to come, and soon! This past month with all the stuff going on in my life has been quite trying; I just want some sunshine and warmth to reinforce the fact that time is "marching" forward. This has always been my least favorite month...

Please please send it down south. We have had such a dry winter and spring. Does not bode well for the rest of the year. :(

SNOW. I think it's been 3 times in the past week. And temps below 10 degrees F every morning this week. Come on, spring!!!!
