Finally caught Django on Amazon the other day. It was okay. I was only slightly disappointed. A typical Tarantino film with plenty of violence. Definitely not on the same league as Kill Bill.
Kind of a tired predictable plot about a slave gaining his freedom and exacting revenge on the evil slave owners. I thought Christoph Waltz was outstanding as the lead character Dr. King Shultz. In stark contrast, Jamie Foxx just wasn't convincing as a Django. I felt he gave no depth to the character. Very disappointing. Along the same line, Don Johnson's usual charm did not come across in the character he played as Big Daddy. DiCaprio was pretty convincing as Calvin Candie.
The action was pretty good though. With all the hype, I was expecting something better though. I would give the movie a weak 3.5 stars.
