View Full Version : now this is weird weather?
They say it is headed north:

I don't know what normal low temps are in those areas during their winter (which it is now).
The earth.........she is a-changin'.
Buckle up, it could be a bumpy ride.
I wonder what the political reaction would be if we were headed toward cooler temps.

The sun is acting bizarrely and scientists have no idea why. Solar activity is in gradual decline, a change from the norm which in the past triggered a 300-year-long mini ice age.
No one knows where temps are headed, but I wonder if we thought they were cooling people would push to enact measures to slow or reverse the cooling.
ETA: This chart is a little easier to read and gives more context than the one in the link above:

You can't regulate, tax or demonize the sun.
You can't regulate, tax or demonize the sun.
Only because PG&E hasn't fully established their claim to it....yet.
I thought Europe had a freakishly cold winter this past year? Here, we had a freakishly cold spring, which was welcome after the freakishly hot one last year. Summer has seemed to me fairly normal this year, here, though officially I think we are still in some drought.

I'm going to go with the reaction would be to do nothing unless it is in the interest of and not to the detriment of any major campaign donors. What do I win?

Oh Alan, you don't give them enough credit:
Spain Levies Consumption Tax on Sunlight (http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2013/07/spain-levies-consumption-tax-on-sunlight.html)
Proving that idiocy truly has no bounds, Spain issued a "royal decree" taxing sunlight gatherers. The state threatens fines as much as 30 million euros for those who illegally gather sunlight without paying a tax.

Quick weird weather note: " Tuesday marks the 26th consecutive day (http://www.komonews.com/weather/blogs/scott/Seattle-is-halfway-to-its-all-time-dry-streak-recor-216637491.html) with no measurable rain at Seattle's Sea-Tac Airport." As a bicycle commuter, great! As for my garden, oh well.
