I will be spending time in the area, husband is taking a project there. I know very little other then scanning the net. If you are familiar with the area, please tell me the good and bad. I bike and am an outdoor person, tips for places there?
Thank you

Hi ctg492, I live a couple of hours from Hopkinsville and I can't be helpful about things right in that town from much personal experience, but less than an hour away is Land Between the Lakes National Recreation area with trails, wildlife (there is a elk and bison prairie), boating, fishing, nature preserve etc. and of course LAKES. You might also be interested to know that Hopkinsville was home of Edger Cayce, the Sleeping Prophet, so there are probably a museum or info there about him. I will get a couple of links up here for you.

I would LOVE to be able to see the Edgar Cayce museum. The rest of the outskirts sound really nice...

I second Land Between the Lakes! I went to Murray State University my freshman year in college and think you should consider a weekend exploring Murray, Kentucky. It's over an hour away, but the music and fine arts programs are strong, so you may find some interesting programs and concerts to attend. Also, a weekend trip to Mammoth Cave would be fun. Nashville is a fun city to explore too. I grew up in Louisville, so if you ever make your way up there, I can definitely give you some recommendations.

I don't know if quilting is your thing, but in Paducah KY, (again about an hour or so away), they have the National Quilt Museum. Lots of interesting displays of modern Quilts as Art, as well as many old, old quilts hand pieced and hand quilted from long ago. Paducah is a nice river town, has an arts community and a performing arts place that is nice.
