We just fry them or make relish. My Mom did wrap some at the end of the season, at the first frost, but I don't remember any of them lasting for four months. It would be really cool if that works!

I've done it for about two months, worked okay but the flavor was interesting. Nowadays my favorite way to do the green ones is to pull up the plant and hang it upside down in the garage. They ripen slowly on the plant and I just keep harvesting as they do.

As long as it doesn't freeze there, and no animals will get to them, a shed would be fine.
I think they can get a big mushy, as time goes on.
I discovered a green tomato casserole recipe that's really good, and I use the green tomatoes at the end of the season quite often for that.

I done rapped some green tomatoes and put them in a shoe box and put the box in the darkest part of my little pantry.Ill see how long it takes them to get ripe.
It does freeze here but I have heat in the shed if I need it.My holding tank for water is in the shed too.Somtimes turn heat on to keep the water lines from freezing.

I've wrapped tomatoes and noticed nothing other than a little less fresh tomato flavor, but, I never thought of hanging the plant. I have a pantry I can use. Thanks!

I have used this time proven method in the past to ripen green tomatoes - place green tomatoes in a brown paper sack with a ripe apple. Keep closed. Check daily. The ethylene gas from the apple hastens the tomato ripening process. It really works! :)

Tiam, for 3 tomato plants I think I would use the method Puglogic mentioned earlier in this thread. ;)
