Indeed. Trump certainly understands who the base voters of the republican party are. A bunch of vile racist, xenophobic, misogynistic thugs who long for the days when straight white men ran everything and everyone else was meekly subservient at best or completely silenced into submission at worst. Hillary Clinton had it right when she described them as a basket of deplorables. Anyone who can still vote for the guy after yesterday's freak show is very much telling us who THEY are and it's not a good look for them.

    Yes.

I don't see a world where you are the one they put in the concentration camp.

Having openly declared he hasn’t voted for Trump may not be the pass you think it is.

I know some here poke fun at the Hitler comparisons as being overwrought hysteria, but I just finished a non-fiction book on Auschwitz, and I find Trump's references to "the enemy within" especially chilling.

We survived FDR trying to pack the SCOTUS when it stood in the way of some of his more egregious power grabs. We even survived him putting people into camps the way Rachel Maddow claims to fear. We can survive a pair of twits like Trump and Harris.

Democrats have been calling Republicans fascists almost as long as there have been fascists. I, like many others, have discounted that accusation based on decades of wolf-crying.

If America falls, it won’t be to some braying buffoon. It will be chipped away bit by bit by compassionate authoritarians who believe they know our interests better than we do. Who believe they must protect us from disinformation and dangerous ideas. Who feel it their duty to enforce their concepts of “equity” on the unenlightened masses.
Thirteen former Trump officials have signed a letter supporting Gen. Kelly's report of hearing Trump "on multiple occasions praising Adolph Hitler."

“We applaud General Kelly for highlighting in stark details the danger of a second Trump term. Like General Kelly, we did not take the decision to come forward lightly,” the letter said. “We are all lifelong Republicans who served our country. However, there are moments in history where it becomes necessary to put country over party. This is one of those moments.”

So no, it's not hysteria on the left, as has been characterized in this thread.

Even more fascinating is that people still think he's remotely acceptable as a potential president.
What is fascinating is we can NOW talk about presidential candidates and dementia, linking the two concepts.

Prior to July 2024 we weren’t allowed to talk about that. I guess that’s a new talking point.
