Revenge of the Deplorable Garbage Nazis

Once again, the American electorate has managed to shock and surprise me. Trump winning the popular vote by five million votes was not something I expected or particularly wanted. It looks like he did better than anyone seemed to anticipate with Latinos and other groups the Democrats considered inevitably in their column.

Harris didn’t seem to run an especially bad campaign, nor Trump an especially compelling one. She had something like three times the money and an abjectly servile media supporting her. So what happened? Was it the Biden coverup? The economy? Mistrust of all the position changes? Misogyny and racism are always a possible explanation in some quarters, so I expect to hear that a lot.

I imagine we’ll see more lawfare in the near future. Jack Smith will probably be getting a pink slip. Given what we know so far in the House and Senate, impeachment doesn’t seem to be in the cards for the first couple of years. What I don’t see are concentration camps and military repression.

I think Grandpa Joe waited too long to get out of the way. Trump seems to have a better grasp of new forms of media. He went on a ton of podcasts. Kamala only did two, that were aimed at women. Dave Ramsey had invited her for a sit down interview. She refused. Trump didn't. But most of all, "it's the economy, stupid."

Could be any or all, but I'm putting some ownness on Biden. It was a last minute scramble to put a campaign together and find a person to run when he backed out at such a late date. Humble opinion that he also had a missed opportunity over the border issues. It was plain to me that it was getting out of control, and he had the power to do something about it. Trump ran pretty hard on immigration.

I see the U.S. stocks are up today thinking he will bolster the U.S. economy. I'm pretty much in the fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a wild ride mentality. There are not many checks and balances left in the system. Maybe his base will get the cheap gas they wish for.

It's interesting that the national debt hasn't been brought up much in the campaign for either, but I see bonds prices are anticipated more government borrowing.

okay-----you kids are over-analyzing the sit-chu-ayshun. But yeah---it's almost like a mooo-vvvee, only not a hollyweird one. All-American Trump(the main character) got persecuted, prosecuted, and shot-at. His Pseudo-American opponent was a ditsy opportunistic space case, and her supporters a bunch of obnoxious delusional wackos. T's supporters are patriots from the Heartland. So, anyway----that's why Trump won. Note that Trump Triumphs. See? Pretty obvious. Hope that helps you kids some. Thankk mee.

Yes, Fk old man Biden. I STILL feel personally betrayed because I was willing to ignore video clips of his mental gaffes and shuffling ambulation up until July 13 when we simply could no longer ignore it.

And the syncophants (there’s your new word, Roger) who urged him to stay in office by
cheering him on for “answering every question!!!” need to examine their own role in this election loss.

As if that will ever happen…

One can point fingers at the dems, but Harris really wasn't all that bad. Trump is a chronic liar, a criminal, a bully, a climate denier, most likely racist and sexist, and has promoted the concept of him becoming some sort of all powerful ruler some called a fascist. And who has promised to put a chronic conspiracy theorist in charge of public health in some manner or another. There is something wrong with the picture of a country who would elect such a person in exchange for the promise of cheap gas or what over other material benefits with half empty promises. That's the other side of the blame equation. As a friend said, this isn't the country I thought I lived in.

I think a lot of people voted against Biden/Harris instead of for Harris or for Trump. Biden was always extremely unpopular. This isn’t just about cheap gas. Rents have really gone up, food costs have gone up 40% since 2021, from one figure I heard last night. New car prices have been crazy. Inflation might have come down, but a lot of people are still feeling the pinch. I think a lot of us here don’t struggle much.

it really is “the economy, stupid.”

I agree that Harris isn’t all that bad. So much better than Biden simply because she isn’t ancient. Unfortunately, she has so much of the baggage of her party following her around, much of which she has to support.

Have you seen the gibberish trump has spewed? I’ve seen trump stumble and have physical and verbal difficulties. Neither old man should have run. I fear trump and his maga right wing conspiratorial theories. Also, he has no moral compass. I truly wish I had the opportunity to leave the country.
