The problem here is that the black tines seem to bother Rosa.
Here's what somebody said on Reddit:
"You might see some black tarnish form if you have eggs for breakfast. This is normal because of the hydrogen sulphide that forms when cooking eggs. You can take a regular ikea cup with some aluminum foil lined inside, have the utensil contact the foil and add some baking soda and hot water to instantly clear the tarnish."

Someone else said silver has anti-bacterial properties so that's cool.

I believe I'm going to use it for now; I'm actually enjoying it, and DH seems to be amused that we are "posh" now, lol. It is a lovely simple pattern, although I confess that I would probably select something with a bit more embellishment. I actually really liked the pattern of the silverplate set, a little bit fancy, but not too fancy. If I were going to buy a set of stainless, I would probably go with something like this: https://libertytabletop.com/product/pearl-new/

Isn't it funny that they have salad forks, and special little seafood forks, and then they have knives where the blade is stainless and the handle is silver, but they don't have special egg forks with stainless tines?

Mom had really nice taste. Her china is quite lovely too. I guess you would also call it MCM, but it always struck me as a bit art deco. I believe this is the pattern: https://www.replacements.com/china-f...n-dawn/c/24777. It's a lovely aqua color that doesn't really show to advantage on the website photos.

That china is really unique--the color is so lovely.
The stainless is gorgeous. Now I can see the logic of selling the sterling, especially at our age when the stainless would last the rest of our lives.

Still, I would personally keep the sterling for a while because it's so cool to use something like that that was meant to last the person's lifetime, and now it can last your lifetime, too. That appeals to me.

I love the color of that, China, Rosa!

I have an old Franciscan pattern for our everyday dishes because it went with the 1940s vibe of my house. it was very common and I’m sure everyone here knows people who had it. They stopped making it in 1983. I buy them on eBay and there’s thousands of pieces easily available.
