I’m not looking for outrage from my news sources. I just want…the news. Facts, links to direct primary sources, that sort of thing.

Primary sources for certain things may become rare when, for example, the NIH and CDC has pseudo-scientists at the controls and budget cutbacks on research. The government is become the primary source for certain "facts", like CDC data and climate change information controlled by oil executives Among other similars. The source for primary facts may become limited or distorted. We might have to reach out to foreign countries for true facts. If they are still talking to us.

Reddit Fednews has a lot of insider news from the folks actually being fired. I noticed there are journalists there asking for info about what is going on inside their departments.
My husband attended yesterday's in Augusta. The Secretary of State spoke against what Elon Musk is doing. It was cold and very windy, with white out blowing snow at times. While someone was leading the crowd in a Woody Guthrie song, they all started cheering-- a bald eagle was hanging over them on a wind current.
My morning news featured the protests at Tesla dealerships and the Tesla car sales backlash. I liked where Sheryl Crow sold her Tesla and donated the money to NPR.

Did anyone from your island go to Montpelier? I remember from going to grad school in Vermont it was not that far from Montpelier to Burlington?
I actually don't know! We've been isolated due to the snowstorm, plus we were babysitting all weekend. I haven't seen any news, because my 2-1/2 y.o. GS is not interested--he much prefers Curious George and Mary Poppins.
Today is the first day in a week I'm able to have a normal day--I went to a business conference in Philly last week and my weekend days completely consumed in entertaining the little one.
But... Now that I'm starting to re-enter current events, I was interested in DT's recent quote by Napoleon that he tweeted: "He who saves his Country does not violate any Law." So that sent me down the rabbit hole of learning more about Napoleon, and I swear to God, I think Trump may have watched the movie, and saw his future. See this paragraphi in Wikipedia:
Historians have variously described Bonaparte's new regime as "dictatorship by plebiscite",[117] "absolutist rule decked out in the spirit of the age",[118] and "soft despotism".[119] Local and regional administration was reformed to concentrate power in the central government,[120] censorship was introduced, and most opposition newspapers were closed down to stifle dissent.[121] Royalist and regional revolts were dealt with by a combination of amnesties for those who lay down their arms and brutal repression of those who continued to resist.
I know little to nothing about Napoleon, but replace "Bonaparte" with "Trump" and you have a summary of the last 4 weeks' news headlines. Let's hope he not now planning on military action in Greenland, Panama, and Gaza to achieve his meglomaniacal goals.
The other intresting comparison is how the 19th century "royalists" are the 21st century's "out-of-touch liberal elites." There's a cautionary tale there.
I don't expect this chaos to settle down any time soon.
