I've been wondering if many people actually depend on "X" for relevant political news or if it's just a sounding board for politicians to quibble? Although it seems common, today my legacy news reported on Pence getting after Trump of Ukraine, it seems like Zelensky chimes into the fray sometimes and Musky touts conspiracy theory just for fun. I admittedly have a small social circle but do not know of anyone who uses X for news items. It doesn't seem like a reliable way to get a comprehensive view of the issues and is more suited for doom scrollers, gossip mongers, and people with short attention spans and small cell phone screens. But I am probably in a different generation. I almost get the impression that the politicians who use it have too much free time and are doing their own doom scrolling. I'm probably the eternal luddite and some things I don't get.

And Truth Social is a whole 'nother ball of wax.

I know a fair number of people who use X for breaking news type stuff then then go to regular news sources for more info.

Personally I'm comforted by the fact that LDAHL convinced me that there would be no difference between a trump and a Harris presidency. Three weeks of the trump presidency has proven that he's an expert predictor. I'm sure the next several years will be completely fine. I hope we all live through the fourth turning that LDAHL doesn't think is happening despite all the obvious evidence that it is.

Something that's helping me get through these insane times beyond taking steps - FINALLY - to get out of this country - is the following:

I figured out that this country is not worth fighting for for many of us. Reason being, like it or not - more voters voted in this insanity than did not. That is a fact that is not going to change nor disappear no matter how you wish to wrap it up, package it, or spin it away. For many of us, there's no real reason to be here as we have no real representation under the current oppressive and on a daily basis, unconstitutional regime. Rob

Can you give us a few examples of oppression and/or unconstitutional acts you're referencing?

I for one would say: birthright citizenship. I think the Constitution is much clearer on that than the way people interpret the second amendment. And I think there's a pretty clear argument to be made that monies approved by Congress need to be removed by Congress. The Orange One and President Musk could get Congress to approve their (IMO unethical and completely egregious) blanket freezes on already appropriated monies, but can't be bothered. Which makes one wonder why? Why should an unelected immigrant who was, for a time, in this country illegally, be allowed to access data from government entities, fire people at will (Oh, wait, that's what we DO in corporate Amerika) and do everything in his power to make us a weaker and even more divided nation? What's the end game here? I'm not seeing anything better than what we had, and it's looking a whole lot WORSE than what we had before. Personally, I'm becoming really glad that I'm old, and that my kids had the sense to not procreate. The world of the future looks like the more distant past, where life was short and brutal, except for the elete.

it's a game for those who have money, and power. for the rest of us, it's not a game at all. though it's clear we're the pawns....

It IS possible to change the board on which your game is being played to one that works better for you - as I am trying via working towards moving to Ecuador - but it IS a game nonetheless in which we are the pawns, yes, I could not agree more. I'd be happy at this point just to be on playing board that worked better for me - maybe such is the best we can hope for in this world? Rob
