why would anyone do such unrelentingly awful things to a nice little Cape Cod home? What does this evil flipper have against these kinds of houses anyway? What in the actual FK was in his mind?

Oh, man. That is like dipping an orchid (or an iris, or a lily, or a tree) in plastic. Such a sign of the times and the culture that values fast and cheap.

The slapdash of a "modern" dark, brooding color. The laminate floors, so obviously low-quality engineered, apparent even in a crappy online photo. The disprectful "homage" to character with those weird arches. The AI generated "what people will want in a kitchen" with the oh-so-prosaic and bland choices of kitchen design features.

    (sigh)

okay-----I am a purist, like you kids. My VERY solid 58 Packkard fell into the hands of a hill person who enjoys "Kustomizing"(ruining) old karz to suit his really bad taste. But yeah---he didn't get around to this project, excepta punch large holes in the deck lid to tryta remove a dent---when there is EZ-access on the inside! And that guy supposedly teaches Autobody at a school in Yokelhoma! So yeah---I rescued the car; I had a moral obligation to do so. Dudes, I do feel your pain. 'Cause I hate ta think what the markup will be on that flip, or any flip, these days. Hope that helps you some.

I know! These houses typically have pretty oak hardwood floors in decent condition, unpainted fireplace surrounds, sometimes crown molding and original kitchen cabinets. About 30% of the time they even have original tile in the bathroom.

I check this zip code because I like these houses. Here is a cute one I would buy if forced to move to Des Moines:

That house is adorable. I love the older homes in good condition. That's why I adore Ocean Grove, but I'm sure I'd be sick to my stomach to see what has happened to the interiors of those houses since COVID.

All these things being painted black is a trend I hope ends soon. Looks like it was burnt.

I understand the laminate floors as it looks like they opened up the house to make it more of an open concept.

As for the color, wellI don't know what is popular there, let alone if it did suffer a fire and painted dark for better coverage, etc. That could also explain why laminate over fixing and extending the hardwood.

Yes! The charred innards of a fire damaged house.
